1. Who we are
mdfileconverter.com (the "Service") is operated by Charles Magno, an individual operator (the "Operator", "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the Service. Specifically:
- Account data. If you sign in, we collect your email address. We use magic links for authentication — we never store a password.
- Conversion content. The Markdown you submit to the converter is transmitted to our server over HTTPS, rendered into a PDF, and then discarded. Anonymous and free-tier conversions are not persisted. Premium users can opt to save PDFs to their account; saved files live on Cloudflare R2 in the EU and are deleted when the user deletes them.
- Billing data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, Stripe processes the payment. We receive your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and the last four digits of your card from Stripe — never the full card number.
- Usage analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics (no cookies, no fingerprinting) to count page views and aggregate-level performance metrics. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking.
- Operational logs. Our server records request metadata (timestamp, IP, user agent, response code, latency) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
- We do not store the Markdown content of anonymous or free conversions.
- We do not access the saved files of Premium users.
4. Why we collect what we collect
- Email — to log you in via magic link and to send receipts.
- Conversion content — only in transit, only long enough to render your PDF.
- Billing data — to take payment and prevent fraud.
- Usage analytics — to understand which pages are popular so we can improve them.
- Operational logs — to investigate abuse, debug errors, and protect the Service.
5. Sub-processors
We use a small number of vendors to operate the Service. Each one is bound by data-processing terms with comparable safeguards:
- Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, Web Analytics, and R2 file storage (EU region).
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (magic links, receipts).
- Our VPS provider — hosting the application and database.
6. Cookies
We set one strictly-necessary cookie: mdc_session, used to keep you logged in once you click a magic link. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies. The cookie is deleted when you log out or after its expiry.
7. Your rights
If you have an account, you can at any time:
- Export a copy of your account data and saved files by emailing [email protected].
- Delete your account, which removes your email, sessions, saved files, and billing history (we retain only what tax law requires of us to keep).
- Object to processing, restrict processing, or withdraw consent.
If you are an EU/UK resident, your rights under GDPR / UK GDPR apply. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
mdfileconverter is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page; the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
